Sherman Gymnasium

Sherman Gymnasium is named in honor of Illinois College alumnus Herb Sherman ’58, in memory of his parents, Armond and Minnie Sherman. Sherman Gymnasium is the home for IC men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball. The court at Sherman Gymnasium is named Bill Merris Court in honor of the long-time head men’s basketball coach and former athletic director. The gymnasium has a seating capacity of 1,576 and includes standing room areas on all upper levels.

The Green Training Room, named for Dr. James '61 and Cathy Green, is located on the east side of the court and is available to all student-athletes.

A historic moment in Sherman Gymnasium history occurred on November 11, 2013, when the men's basketball team took on the Grinnell Pioneers in a game that was nationally televised on ESPN3.

King Fieldhouse

King Fieldhouse is the most widely-used facility by the Illinois College athletic department, as it not only serves as the home for IC indoor track & field, but it is also used as a practice facility for all teams during inclement weather. Four rubberized courts and two batting cages are available for use within the facility. King Fieldhouse is used during the winter months of the school year for intramural events as well.

• Turn right at the first stop sign entering Jacksonville (Walnut Street) – go 0.2 miles (2 blocks).
• Turn left on North Church Street - go 1.5 miles.
• Turn right on Morton Avenue - go 0.7 miles.
• Turn right on Lincoln Avenue - go 0.4 miles.
• Illinois College’s Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center is located at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Edgehill Road.

From the North on Routes 67 & 104:

• Take Morton Avenue exit (second Jacksonville exit) and turn left onto Morton Avenue - go 2.6 miles.
• Turn left on Lincoln Avenue - go 0.4 miles.
• Illinois College’s Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center is located at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Edgehill Road.

From the East on Interstate 72:

• Take exit 68 to Jacksonville and turn right on Route 36 (Morton Avenue) - go 4.1 miles.
• Turn right on Lincoln Avenue - go 0.4 miles.
• Illinois College’s Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center is located at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Edgehill Road.

From the East on Route 104:

• Turn left at the first stoplight entering Jacksonville (Route 104 West/Morton Avenue) - go 2.5 miles.
• Turn right on Lincoln Avenue - go 0.4 mile.
• Illinois College’s Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center is located at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Edgehill Road.

From the South on Route 267:

• Follow Route 267 into Jacksonville to Morton Avenue.
• Turn left on Morton Avenue - go 1.0 miles.
• Turn right on Lincoln Avenue - go 0.4 miles.
• Illinois College’s Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center is located at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Edgehill Road.

From the South on Route 67:

• Take the Morton Avenue exit (first Jacksonville exit after Interstate 72) and turn right onto Morton Avenue - go 2.4 miles.
• Turn left on Lincoln Avenue - go 0.4 miles.
• Illinois College’s Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center is located at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Edgehill Road.

From the West on Interstate 72:

• Take Exit 60 to Jacksonville (US-67 N/Beardstown) - go 2.5 miles.
• Take the Morton Avenue exit (first Jacksonville exit) and turn right on Morton Avenue - go 2.4 miles.
• Turn left on Lincoln Avenue - go 0.4 miles.
